Hello from the Rector
Dear friends,
This Sunday we are back with our Refresh service at 5pm at Clowne after a bit of a break. We are going to be exploring Ignatian Spirituality together – why not come along if you’ve not been before? It’s a good service to bring a friend to as it is very informal. This song has been requested, so we shall sing it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azlhQQVx8qY
We also have Morning Prayer at 8.30am at Clowne and our 10am Sung Eucharist at Barlborough.
See you soon.
Every blessing,
Canon Bryony
Clowne PCC summary
At Clowne PCC this week we:
- Reflected on our Summer Fair and Music Festival. Although the event was a success we concluded that another time we would run two separate events – a music festival to include the chance to play the organ and try bell ringing inside church and a Summer Fair as usual but on different dates.
- We began to develop a reserves policy to ensure good financial prudence. We also agreed to move money from our current account into our savings account to accrue as much interest as possible – making our money work for us.
- Reviewed and renewed our Safeguarding policies.
- Our next PCC meeting was moved to 29th September. Please email our PCC Secretary Jacqui Davis on Jacqueline_davis23@outlook.com if you have anything you would like to raise with us.

Please consider joining the Parish Giving Scheme to give regularly if you do not already do so.
It costs money to run our churches, to pay for our clergy and keep the lights on, most of our income comes from your generosity!
Joining the Parish Giving Scheme
A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid. Once you set it up you can relax and not worry about bringing cash to church.
How to give
Set up a regular gift to the parish by calling the dedicated telephone line: 0333 002 1271. Tell them the parish code:
- St John the Baptist, Clowne: 120612060
- St James the Greater, Barlborough: 120612054
You can also set everything up online yourself by visiting: https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/
