Big Barlborough Festival 11th-12th July 2026

Barlborough Parish Council, Heritage Centre, the National Garden Scheme and local churches have collaborated to create the third of its kind Big Barlborough Festival taking place from 11th to 12th July 2026 in the picturesque Derbyshire village of Barlborough.

Over the weekend there will be a variety of events for all ages including a book themed flower and brick festival in St James’ Church, an exhibition at the Heritage Centre, an Art Exhibition at the Methodist church, the National Open Garden scheme with various gardens to visit and legendary tea and cake to purchase in aid of charity, Brass on the Grass on the Saturday night, a fun run on the Saturday morning, in addition to a fun afternoon for young people on the village green.

Local Rector Rev’d Bryony Taylor said: “after the last two year’s success we’ve come together again to create a fantastic weekend for people who live in the local area to celebrate our community. Our church will be celebrating its festival of St James and we will be putting on our second ever combined Brick (for this read Lego) and Flower Festival on the theme of celebrating books. Come and view the displays of brick creations from local children, and floral displays based on books and some creative writing from children at Barlborough Primary School. For the first time this year we are offering the opportunity to try bell ringing, so on Saturday between 10am and 12noon pop to church to give it a try (children must be accompanied by an adult).”

Councillor Jane Haywood said, “we are delighted to be collaborating with local organisations to put on these events for the people of Barlborough and in particular to offer free activities for young people. Two years ago we started the tradition of this Big Barlborough Festival and this year we’ve brought it back even bigger and better. Barlborough is a great place to live and we want to celebrate that.”
