Hello from the Rector
Dear friends,
Last weekend’s play was excellent and thought-provoking. It helpfully coincided with Dying Matters week. I have put some more copies of the funeral planning booklet at the back of church in case anyone would like to take one to jot down what you would like for your funeral – it’s a real gift you can give to your family and will give you and them peace of mind.
This Sunday at Barlborough after the main service is our annual meeting so do please stay for that as we report on what we’ve done in the last year and elect new Church Wardens, Deanery Synod reps and PCC members. You can read our annual report here.
I’m delighted to say that Andrew Wilson, a new member of our congregations is going to be baptised at our Refresh Service at 5pm on Pentecost Sunday 24th May. You are warmly invited to come along to support him as he takes this step of faith and joins God’s family: it would be lovely to have people there from both our churches.
Please note that contrary to previously advertised, Clowne Patronal Festival service will be at 10am on Sunday 28th June, not Sunday 21st June. All the dates of upcoming services are below, please amend your diaries, thank you!
Every blessing,
Canon Bryony
Please consider joining the Parish Giving Scheme to give regularly if you do not already do so.
It costs money to run our churches, to pay for our clergy and keep the lights on, most of our income comes from your generosity!
Joining the Parish Giving Scheme
A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid. Once you set it up you can relax and not worry about bringing cash to church.
How to give
Set up a regular gift to the parish by calling the dedicated telephone line: 0333 002 1271. Tell them the parish code:
- St John the Baptist, Clowne: 120612060
- St James the Greater, Barlborough: 120612054
You can also set everything up online yourself by visiting: https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/
