Hello from the Rector

Dear friends,

The Big Barlborough Festival is here! There is a lot happening in the village across the weekend but please especially make time to visit our Flower and Brick festival (10am-4pm Sat and Sun) and our Patronal Festival Eucharist at Barlborough at 10am and then in the evening at 5.15pm I’m looking forward to our VE Day 80 Celebration Service which will include the brilliant Dambusters hymn! I do hope you’ll join us and bring your friends and neighbours. If you haven’t signed up but can spare some time over the weekend, please just turn up and you can help make refreshments or sell raffle tickets. Huge thanks to Janet Leverton and her team for her hard work on the displays.

Deanery Debt Relief team – if you’re interested in getting involved in the Deanery Debt relief team across our area, please attend the next meeting at 7pm on Monday 14th July at Holy Trinity Chesterfield. Email Rev’d Jill Hancock on jillhancock@outlook.com to confirm your attendance.

St James Choir singing evensong at Derby Cathedral
You are cordially invited to Derby Cathedral on Sunday 20th July at 5.15pm to hear St James Choir sing Choral Evensong. It would be lovely to have a group of us go to support the choir. Please let us know if you need a lift.

Civic Service at St James Barlborough Sunday 27th July at 3pm
Please come and support Cllr Duncan Haywood (member of the choir at Barlborough) in this special civic service as he is sworn in as Chair of Bolsover Council. This is a great honour and the first time such a civic service has been held at St James’.

The Cliff House Care Home service has been cancelled for July – this time by the care home as there is an event on.

Every blessing,

Rev Bryony

Here’s how you can help by joining the Parish Giving Scheme and giving by Direct Debit.

A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid.

It gives all of us peace of mind – you’re not worrying about your envelopes with your cash gift piling up and we’re not worrying about loss of income – it’s a win win!
