Hello from the Rector

Dear friends,

Thank you so much to all who made our Summer Fair last week in Clowne such a success – we raised over £800 for church and also built a wonderful new relationship with the choir at Clowne Infant School – I’ve already booked them for the Christmas Fair!

This Summer as part of the Big Barlborough Festival we are running our first Brick (Lego) and Flower Festival from 12th-13th July 10am-4pm. We are inviting donations towards flowers in memory of loved ones (or simply anonymous) – please use the forms provided. Do visit Barlborough over this weekend – there’s lots happening including open gardens, Art Fair at the Methodist church and an exhibition in the Heritage Centre.

Deanery Debt Relief team – if you’re interested in getting involved in the Deanery Debt relief team across our area, please attend the next meeting at 7pm on Monday 14th July at Holy Trinity Chesterfield. Email Rev’d Jill Hancock on jillhancock@outlook.com to confirm your attendance.

St James Choir singing evensong at Derby Cathedral
You are cordially invited to Derby Cathedral on Sunday 20th July at 5.15pm to hear St James Choir sing Choral Evensong. It would be lovely to have a group of us go to support the choir. Please let us know if you need a lift.

Civic Service at St James Barlborough Sunday 27th July at 3pm
Please come and support Cllr Duncan Haywood (member of the choir at Barlborough) in this special civic service as he is sworn in as Chair of Bolsover Council. This is a great honour and the first time such a civic service has been held at St James’.

The Cliff House Care Home service has been cancelled for July – this time by the care home as there is an event on.

Don’t forget that we are at Clowne for our eucharist this Sunday – last Sunday was the 5th Sunday of the month.

Every blessing,

Rev Bryony

Here’s how you can help by joining the Parish Giving Scheme and giving by Direct Debit.

A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid.

It gives all of us peace of mind – you’re not worrying about your envelopes with your cash gift piling up and we’re not worrying about loss of income – it’s a win win!
