Poem for Good Friday – the Dream of the Rood (7th Century)

For today’s poem for Good Friday I am reading the Dream of the Rood: a remarkable early poem in old English from the 7th century in which a man has a dream that he meets the cross on which Christ dies and hears the story of Christ’s crucifixion from the perspective of the cross.

Rood is an old word for cross.
